Dialog
- Hi, Daniel. This is Susan speaking. Glad to hear your voice again.
* Susan, thank God you called! I wanted to talk to you, I´m very worried. How did you do on the test?

- Very well. I got the highest score. What about you?
* I wasn´t lucky, I flunked. I feel ashamed. I think I got the lowest score, I am so depressed.
- Come on! Daniel! Don´t be ashamed of yourself. I´m sure you´ll catch up. Don´t worry, the teacher will give a make up test next week. And you´ll make it! I´ll help you.
 This guy's nut. He would take the make up test just to see Susan again.

LANGUAGE FOCUS
To express your feelings about events, use past participles as adjectives. The verbs “to be” and “to feel” are also used.
The test worried me.                            I am worried about the test.

The good news excited me.                I was excited about the news
His bad grade depressed him.                        He was depressed because of his grade.

SPEAKING
You may feel differently about certain events. Read these sentences and then match them with the pictures below:

b)     My daughter doesn’t like concerts; she is not interested in Mozart concerts.
c)     My bother is a musician; he feels very excited about Mozart´s concert.
d)     Most people believe in God. They go to religious processions in Easter.

LANGUAGE STUDY
Use “rather”, “very”, “quite” to indicate the degree of intensity of an adjective or an adverb.

“A bit” and “a little” have similar meanings. However, “a little” is less formal and more common in oral discourse.
The exercises are a bit difficult.

“Feel” refers to the physical, moral and emotional state of a person. Use “to be” or “to feel” with a past participle to express emotion:
To feel delighted: He felt delighted after the concert.
To be delighted: He was delighted after the concert.
To feel tired: They feel tired when they finish work.
To be tired: They are tired when they finish work.
